Pretty good, pretty NEAT...
Pretty good, pretty neat...alright, alright, alright...
Do you know who said that? If you're my age or older you are likely familiar with the great singer of the legendary band The Doors- Mr. Mojorisin'. One of my favorites..
But that's not what this post is about.
This is about NEAT- or non-exercise activity thermogenesis. Translated into normal language means all the little movements you make throughout the day. Walking, biting your nails, fidgeting, taking the stairs, standing up and sitting down in your chair. All of these little seemingly insignificant movements add up over time.
So without going on forever about this subject let me just keep it simple.
1- Take the stairs as often as possible.
Every time you have the chance to take the stairs instead of an elevator- DO IT!
2- Park far away.
Whenever you to to a mall or grocery store, or anywhere with a parking lot, park as far away as you can. Seriously. I do it all the time. You will be ok. You won't miss out on anything super amazing by walking an extra 30 seconds a few times a day.
3- Get up from your chair often.
Go to get water. Walk around. Stand up and sit down as many times as you can. Talk on your phone while standing. Do some stretches.
That's it for today. Pretty good, pretty neat.
Take advantage of these simple ways to jack up your NEAT which will burn more calories, increase your metabolism and could help alleviate some hip/shoulder tightness if you have it.
