Is It Better to Workout in the Morning or Evening?
It was 8 p.m. and I was just getting warmed up.
The "night crew" was already slamming weights around.
This crew was a small group of guys that loved to train at night.
We occupied the back room. Lots of iron clanking, sweat, groans and testosterone.
3-4 nights a week I was a part of this crew. It was a great group of guys. And to be honest, I never
saw myself training anywhere else or at any other time.
But things change. You adapt and evolve.
I never thought I would like mornings at the gym. At first it was a rude awakening.
But over time, I started to like it.
So the point of today's article? To answer this question-
Is it Better to Workout in the Morning or Evening?
It's a great question and I've been on both sides. My general answer is IT DEPENDS.
Specifically on your schedule. How you live your life.
How much time do you need in the morning before work? Does your schedule change often?
Do you travel for work?
The answer really depends on you.
What time will be best for you?
Are you someone that will not find the motivation to go the gym after work?
Let's break it down and look at each option.
Morning Workouts
-Start your day off right
-No excuse to skip after a long day at work
-Might be uncomfortable at first
-Need more warm-up
-Clear head and empty stomach (often a good thing)
Evening Workouts
-Burn off stress from the day
-Having a few meals during the day can give you more energy for workouts
-Easier to skip due to working overtime/other commitments
-Big gyms are usually busier after work
Only you can decide which is better for you. Whatever option you will actually STICK to CONSISTENTLY will be best.
Of course, these aren't the only times you can workout. I've had some great workouts on my lunch break or in the early afternoon.
And you don't have to pick just one.
Try them all. Do what you can, when you can.
I've seen clients who need to have the same exact schedule or else it won't work.
Others can switch it up weekly and still make progress.
