Running trails/ Lifting Logs
Running trails/ carrying logs
Yesterday I ran some trails in the woods. It was the first time I’ve done that in years. When I finished I grabbed a big log (seen above) and did some lifts with it.
If you’ve ever grabbed a big log before you know that feeling when you aren’t sure how heavy it will be and then it’s even heavier than expected.
That’s exactly what I’m looking for when I pick up a log or stone.
We all have OFF days
My training for the day was successful. I got done most of what I intended yesterday, except THIS blog post.
I didn’t get around to finishing this post yesterday and that bothered me.
It’s been months since I missed a day of writing a blog post.
Why?
My mission is to become the strongest version of myself, which includes helping you become your BEST self.
When I woke up this morning it was eating away at me.
I’m human, not perfect, but I hold myself to a standard that I try to meet each and every day.
A high standard I failed to reach, but I won’t dwell on it.
What to do when you let yourself down?
Get right back at it the next day.
There’s no going back into the past. All we have is NOW.
So right now, I’m putting in the work.
Letting my truth come out, hopefully igniting a spark within you to overcome your failures also.
We need to hold ourselves accountable. It helps to have someone else to support us in our endeavors but we can’t always rely on anyone else.
Everyone has good days and bad. Highs and lows. The key is to not stay down too long.
When we are feeling great, enjoy it but don’t expect it to be there all the time.
If we get knocked out by life, we need to find the grit and determination to keep getting up and fighting.
The battle is in our minds.
That’s the 24/7 fight that only YOU can get a handle on.
You aren’t trying to be perfect, just better.
It can be difficult to gauge “better” but I believe we all know deep-down if we are working hard enough to improve or not.
In Summary
-Get out and hike/run trails. The uneven terrain is great for your legs, heart, lungs AND mind.
-Pick up some logs, carry them for distance, lift them overhead, squat, lunge with them in your hands.
-Aim for improvement, not perfection. If you mess up, don’t overthink it, just get back at it as soon as you can.
-Action crushes that feeling of letting yourself down.
GO.
