Sunday morning workouts- no gym or fancy equipment required

On Sunday I do my training outside.

This morning it was intervals of running/walking, followed by a circuit of pullups/pushups/step-ups on the playground.

No gym or fancy equipment required.

I’m starting to enjoy these mornings.

Even though I dislike running AND bodyweight exercises, what I enjoy is the feeling when I’m done.

That sense of accomplishment and pride.

While most of the world is sleeping you get up early and put in the work.

It doesn’t matter exactly what you do.. simple is always best, in my opinion.

Rucking with a heavy pack on your back… running trails.. calisthenics.. swimming or cycling..

Or get crazy with some sandbag training and/or bear crawls in the grass.

Moments of Progress

Each day we have these brief moments where we have to make a choice.

Do we avoid what needs to be done, or do JUST enough?…

OR do we go BEYOND, and prove to ourselves that we are CAPABLE of much more in our life?

That final set when we are fatigued.. do we push ourselves to complete another rep?

Do we quit when we feel a little discomfort? Or do we dig deep and find another level within our mind?

These moments may SEEM insignificant, but they are essential to your development.

When you want to become the strongest version of yourself, you need to embrace these moments, even seek them out.

Obstacles are THE WAY to grow and evolve.

How does this apply to you?

A few examples-

-Wake up 15 minutes early and write/meditate

-Take only half a lunch/walk the other half outside

-Pack a nutritious lunch instead of buying whatever is available in the cafeteria

-Instead of taking the elevator, take the flights of stairs to your office

-Park at the far end of the parking lot instead of trying to get the closest spot

-Take a cold shower every day for 5 minutes

Thrive with adversity

About a month ago I started up a running program. I went too fast, too soon and didn’t have the right sneakers for the job. My right knee was aching bad.

Frustrated, I had to take a step back and allow my knee to heal up.

In the meantime, I had to do something.

So I started rucking.

Instead of feeling sorry for myself and saying WOE is ME, I got proactive. If I can’t run, I’ll walk with weight on my back.

Don’t just survive- THRIVE!

No one cares if you decide to take it easy, take a day off, let yourself OFF the hook..most people won’t even notice.

But you WILL notice.

When you look in the mirror each day, do you want to see a man who backs down and sinks to a lower level… or do you want to see a man who RISES UP to the occasion..

It’s up to you, and ONLY you.

No one is coming to save you.

You have to write your own story. Be the hero of your movie.

Find a mission and start attacking it. Each and every day.

For me, it helps having a mission.

Without it, I feel kinda off, anxious and scattered.

Having a mission to become the strongest version of yourself means you are trying to improve ALL the time.

There’s no slacking.

Of course, you and I are human. We make mistakes. No one is perfect.

But that shouldn’t stop us from having a high standard. Set it so high you have to work your tail off to get close to it.

That’s a worthy mission.
