What hill are you climbing today?

What hill are you climbing today?

Everything is set.

You knocked off all the tasks on your "to-do" list and set yourself up for a perfect day.

Then LIFE comes along and knocks you off your feet.

New ballgame.

How do you respond?

This is more interesting to me than the "BEST" training programs or the "ideal" diet plan.

Lack of Sleep/ Hunger/ Stress

This morning I woke up in a fog. Didn't sleep much.

Today has been extra challenging. My mind wants to seek a way OUT. An escape to avoid being uncomfortable..

It's these days where you find out what you are truly made of.

Do you still SHOW UP and do what is necessary?

Maybe you even go BEYOND what is required.. push EVEN FURTHER on those tough days.

Just Showing Up is NOT Enough

Yes, you have to SHOW up first.

But that's just the start.

I've heard it said that showing up is expected.

How much of yourself do you GIVE after that?

We all have limitations we put on ourselves.

They are developed over time by listening to our peers, friends, family etc..

Our mind holds us back as we believe in these limits.

This morning I knew I would have a harder workout, being tired.

Instead of letting that mindset hold me back, I decided to shift it around and think about how good it would feel to do MORE than I expected.

It doesn't have to be some crazy accomplishment. Maybe it's just one more rep.

I wanted to best my last workout of pullups by just one rep. That's what I did.

You CAN do MORE.

MUCH more.

Even when life is knocking you on your a$$. Actually, that's the PRIME time to step up and challenge yourself to do MORE.

I don't know about you but I love the movie Forrest Gump. The one scene I like to think of is when Forrest and Lieutenant Dan are on the shrimp boat and the big storm comes in.

Lieutenant Dan is MAD and says "You call this a storm?! HA!!! Just you and me.. come and get me. I'm right here!!"

Love that.

The storm is crushing the boat and he has no legs and he's gone nuts saying "BRING IT ON!!"

That attitude goes a LONG way.

Next time you feel hungry, tired, stressed, kicked in the face by life..

Go to that mental zone where you think "that's all you got? BRING IT!"

It's invigorating and empowering.
