You Can Do Just One More
You can lift ONE MORE pound.
Once you complete your set of 5 reps, you can do ONE MORE.
After 30 minutes on the bike, you can ride just ONE MORE...
There are many different ways to make progress.
To keep it simple: you gotta do MORE.
But how much is necessary?
You can debate this all day long and never be satisfied.
Only YOU know if you are doing enough to spark growth.
Be Honest With Yourself
Did you give 100% today? How about yesterday?
Are you keeping track of your most important numbers?
At the end of the day, I write down all my training information and related tasks that I view as essential to my personal growth.
This holds me accountable for each day as I strive to be the STRONGEST version of myself.
Every Pound Matters
It's easy to overlook the little weight plates. I have a pair of 1.25 lb plates. Some people laugh at them and say "just put five pounds on or do more reps."
There are many ways to make progress, adding ONE MORE pound is one of those ways.
This morning I did trap-bar deadlifts. The weight was just a little bit more than last week. I could've handled more but I know there's a time and a place to go very heavy. (much less often for me nowadays)
After that I did loaded carries. The kettlebells I normally use for some of the carries weren't available so I went an extra half-lap with less weight.
There's always a way to challenge yourself to make progress.
Like I always say, that challenge goes beyond the physical body and also works your mental fortitude.
Beyond the Physical
How long can you go before you give in?
Will you stop when it gets hard?
Or maybe you will keep going because you want to feel what's on the other side...
That's a big reason why I crave daily physical training. It doesn't always need to be heavy or fast..
The slow cardio and the slow repetitions can be just as tough, but in a different way.
When I was rucking last night and my upper back/neck started to ache, I could have pulled the ruck off my back.
I had to push through that discomfort, knowing that I would never regret giving my ALL, but I WOULD regret giving up.
Tiny Moments Seem Insignificant but Become HUGE
Every one of these mental battles we have each day is a new opportunity to grow.
We choose to take the easy route or the path-less traveled.
Over time, all those tiny decisions ADD UP to create a BIG result.
Where we are today is a culmination of those small moments in time.
All those little choices we make.. often they seem so insignificant.. but really they are of CRITICAL IMPACT.
One skipped workout... one snooze button.. always doing the EASY thing instead of the harder option..
It ALL adds up.
That timer says 20 minutes and you planned on doing 30.. but 20 is better than none..
The decision you make to OVERCOME these weak thoughts needs to be repeated day after day.
It's not easy.
It's not for everyone.
It may not be for you.
But if you want to BECOME the STRONGEST version of yourself, those tiny decisions are critical to your physical AND mental growth.
Challenge yourself tomorrow with this.
See where in your daily life that you take the easy route.
If you want to make serious change, you gotta face it, and become that person who strives for the challenge.. you meet it with some fear but still READY to take ACTION.
Then you really start to tap into your potential.
Capabilities that ONLY YOU can find and develop.
But you have to take action.
No one is going to save you.
No one can do it for you.
Start right away.
Let's step UP to the challenge.
I'm up for it.
Are you?
