Monkey Bars and Calisthenics
If you would have told me a few years ago, or even a year ago, that I would be taking a break from lifting weights and doing things like monkey bars, climbing rope, calisthenics and set after set of bodyweight exercises I would have said nope, not me, you’re thinking of someone else.
Isn’t life funny that way?
You never know where you’ll be in a few months or a year.. mentally or physically.
What this means for you is that you want to be open-minded and also extremely focused at the same time.
Open-minded to the possibility of change. We are evolving all the time. Never the same from moment to moment. What works for you today may not be in your best interest a year from now..
While having an open mind is beneficial, it’s also important to be extremely focused, and be able to block out the junk from entering your body AND mind.
Bruce Lee once said: “Absorb what is useful, Discard what is not, Add what is uniquely your own.”
I can’t say it any better than that.
Monkey bars might not appeal to you right now. Who knows, maybe you will want to try them next month?
Even if the equipment changes, your goal to become the strongest version of yourself, does not change.
Some may argue that the method you choose isn’t the “BEST” or not what they do..
People are entitled to their opinions.
When you are in tune with your higher self and the true reason behind your training, you don’t need to worry about their opinions.
If you want to train with only a barbell for a year, so be it.
Same for bodyweight training, or any other training for that matter.
Maybe you want to become a triathlete. Whatever you want to achieve, as long as it’s aligned with your deep self, you don’t need to prove yourself to anyone but yourself.
Become the strongest version of yourself each day.
Of course, some days will be better than others.
It’s those really tough, challenging days that spur on the most growth.
Those days when you feel like you are running in quicksand.. when your eyeballs just want to close due to fatigue.. when your body tells you to quit or to stay in bed..
You have the mindset to overcome those obstacles.
Each time that you do overcome the resistance, you grow more and more into the BEST version of yourself.
It’s not about becoming someone else.
Not at all.
You are becoming the BEST YOU.
And the great part about this (and the hardest) is only YOU will know..
Are you capable of more?
I think you know the answer.
Take your life to a higher level.
Whether that means swinging from the monkey bars or squatting a barbell.

P.S.
Speaking of taking your life to a higher level- I am opening up my ONLINE TRAINING PROGRAM once again.
Here’s more info: Do you ever wish you had someone to write your training program for you?
How about a guy you can relate to? A guy who has struggled to transform his body and after years of setbacks, finally got it right..
A guy with over 18 years of fitness experience who can give you a routine that will work for your individual needs and background?
Someone to hold you accountable each week to make sure you are consistent?
Online coaching with Strength Essentials is the way to improve your life, by having a certified coach look at your training critically and adjust to get you results faster than on your own.
The great thing is you can go to a local gym, or your basement, at any time and the session lasts as long as necessary.
No more waiting for the lat pulldown machine! Or a squat rack.
After receiving multiple emails asking if I could set up programs I decided it was time to open this service up once again.
