Have you ever trained with a friend? There are some definite benefits to having a good training partner.
Today I was getting warmed up doing calisthenics. Next to me was a guy squatting some decent weight. I glanced over as I worked through the warmup.
Next thing I know he's asking to work in with me on my trap-bar deadlifts.
Here we go.
The guy was a beast. And you know what? He brought out the beast in me.
I ended up lifting close to 100 lbs. more than I planned. And then I did some front squats.
When you are training with someone who pushes you out of your comfort zone, it can be just what you need.
Don't get me wrong, I can't train like that all the time. I would be wrecked. But once in awhile it's perfect for a jumpstart. Get the juices flowing. A little competitive energy and drive.
With a good training partner you will push each other. You go. I go. Up the weight. Increase the reps. Push through one more. Shorter rest periods, supersets etc...
It can be hard finding a good one. I haven't had a consistent one in quite some time.
Here's another instance a personal trainer can be of great value.
They will push you outside your comfort zone. Make you better. Even (especially) when you don't feel like it.
Get after it today.
Even if you train alone, make no excuse. Make yourself get uncomfortable today.
You will never regret it.
