How Long Should Your Workouts Be?

How Long Should Your Workout Be?

Long ago, in a galaxy far, far, away..I was bench pressing in a garage..

It was a long time ago. Seems like a different galaxy too.

Back then I never looked at a clock when working out. It was just the bench and some weights and go until you feel tired.

Super complex program let me tell ya'!  But hey, it got me some results.

Would I do it that way now? No, but it's better than doing nothing.

Quick 30 Minute Workouts

Most of my personal training clients do 3o minute workouts. 2-4 days per week on average. Is that enough? That depends.

What's your goal? Do you want to get in better shape than now? How often do you train now? If you are completely sedentary and your only activity is walking from your car to your job then 2 days per week will be an improvement.

Generally 3-4 days per week of 30-45 minute training sessions will be fine for most people.

But what if you want more?

60 Minutes+ Sessions

If you want to be better than just average.. you want to be really fit and improve your strength, muscle mass etc.. you can go beyond 45 minute sessions.

It's all about what you want to accomplish and what level you are starting at.

Don't let the clock determine what you do. If you only have 15 minutes to work out, don't think it's not enough so you will skip it altogether.

A 15 minute session of calisthenics and bodyweight or just 1 exercise with weights is better than doing nothing.

Most of us need to move way more than we do. So get in that 15-20 minute workout and keep stacking up one day after another.
