There's my shadow.. walking down the beach with me..
After that pleasant first cup of coffee and my
EARLY MORNING WORKOUT,
I took a walk on the beach and these are my thoughts:
We all have a shadow self... that part of us that we never show the world..
The shadow looks bigger or smaller than we imagine ourselves to be..
For me, it's always been smaller..
The dark side of our nature is not to be ignored.. it's the flip-side of our greatest strength..
Light & dark
Strength & weakness
Should we double-down on our strengths OR
attack our weaknesses?
This debate has proponents on both sides..
In strength training, business, entrepreneurship, and in LIFE.
I think we need to accept our weakness.
Embrace our strength AND our weakness..
There's no such thing as PERFECT balance.
You can't give everything in your life equal focus and energy.
I say put MORE effort into your strengths and SOME attention to your weakness.
You have weak legs, back, and shoulders..
Solution- Squat, Press, Deadlift.
Simple and direct.
You could also do a little bit of pushups, sled dragging, rows, pullups, sprints..
Most of the work will be on the basics with the barbell.
The rest is extra. Bonus.
Mental toughness training.
The DARK Side
Go to your dark side.
Look at it. Watch it, listen to it.. be AWARE of it.
See how that "weakness" has a strength on the other side..
It can be difficult to see, but it's there.
BUILD ON YOUR STRENGTHS
It's fun to be good at something.
It feels great to be in FLOW...
Those natural gifts we all have..
We don't need to overlook them and only do what we suck at.
You have a strength, a gift, natural ability- USE it. Give it more attention.
In training AND in life.
Bench is your strong lift? Great, keep working at it..
You have a way with machines, you can fix anything.. awesome, spend time developing it further.
Even those areas we are STRONG and GIFTED in, we can use to go beyond our mental limits..
Push to the outer edge of what we believe is possible..
Always another level to rise up to..
Being who you ARE.. not changing who you are into someone else.. this is about developing who you TRULY are.
Becoming the strongest YOU.
Physically, mentally and BEYOND.
Have you become complacent?
Stuck in a rut..
You KNOW you are capable of MORE.
It's ok to want more.
You DESERVE it.
Those dreams and desire were given to you for a reason.
Tap into that drive.
You gotta want it.
Not just KINDA want it.. but want it BAD.
Will it be worth it?
The work, the sweat, the effort, the discipline, going right at your FEAR.. stepping into it..
It's all worth it when you become the STRONGEST you..
When you reach a level FEW people can get to.
Going beyond where you are now and feeling that rush of achievement.. then going to ANOTHER level..
Never stop climbing.. crawling.. pushing the bounds of reality..
