Why are you here?
Such a profound question to ask yourself.
I'm thinking specifically about what your purpose is in life.. but also why are you here reading this?
AND when you are training, ask yourself "Why am I here?"
I think they are all related.
At the gym this morning I started warming up with barbell presses.
The weight was feeling heavy.
My elbow was bothering me.
At that moment I remembered WHY I AM HERE..
To train the body and mind to get stronger.
I'm in the gym to get stronger without crushing my joints with maximal weights.
Most everything I'm lifting now is submaximal. Weights I can lift for 5-8 reps for many sets.
Asking myself WHY AM I HERE, helps keep me focused on what's essential in the moment.
My training has become more intuitive lately.
Like the most rewarding training has ALWAYS been for me.
When I listen to what my inner self truly wants, in the gym and in life, I find peace and freedom and great energy in that authentic voice..
Maybe you've felt this once or twice in your life?
If not, it's time to go within.
Go into a dark room, shut the world off.. don't let anything distract you. Focus on your truth. What are you here for?
What do you want from this world?
Is there something missing in your life?
ONLY YOU can bring it to life.. whatever it is.. your vision, your mission..
You might not even know it's there.. or you do but you've been avoiding it for years..
Eventually it will eat away at you, if you don't face it.
I speak from experience.
For years I was afraid to pursue my calling- writing and strength training. I didn't know how I would do it.. there was no handbook..
The reason being, there's only one me. I have to write the story myself.
Same for you.
If you want to be the greatest version of yourself possible, you have to go deep within and listen.. and take a leap of faith..
Feel the fear and DO IT ANYWAY.
