Front Squats 5x5/ Building Mental Toughness Daily

Front Squats 5 sets of 5 reps.

Since there were no squat racks open I cleaned the weight from the floor each set.

Ten pounds heavier than last week.

No belt. No music. No phone. No mirrors. No distractions.

Just me and the weight on the barbell.

Simple. Direct.  Pure.

There's a shift in my training right now.

Every once in awhile these happen and I've learned to roll with it.

See where it takes me.

Use my intuition and challenge myself in a new way.

Beyond sets & reps and a so-called "perfect program".

The way I approach these shifts is I allow myself to get quiet.. inside.. and I follow what I hear..

You can do this too.

Not just for training but for any area of your life you want to improve.

It takes some practice but over time you start to learn how to open up to your inner self and hear what it's telling you.

Right now, my training journey is taking a new path.. some exercises are out, some are in.. reps and sets may change..

I've added in cardio work and stretching.

CRAZY man!  I know. I gotta follow my own crazy road in life. That's how I'm wired.

The other area I'm putting a TON of FOCUS on is doing things I DON'T want to do EVERY DAY.

Multiple times each day.

These can be small chores, tedious activities etc.. stuff that you want to avoid because it's:

Boring

Annoying

Hard

Uncomfortable

Scary

DO IT.

The thought comes into your mind about doing this thing you DON'T want to DO.. don't wait..Just take action right away.

It's building up my mind.

At the end of each day I can look back with a sense of pride.

I did not go soft, by taking the easy way out.

No more avoiding something difficult.

ALL IN, all the time.. every damn day.

This is a mentality of mental toughness..

I do the HARD things.

I don't let fear stop me.

No more weakness.. no procrastination.. no laziness..

This is NOT EASY.

It's challenging for me every day. But I embrace it.

Now I go after it.

If I think "I will mow the lawn later.. it's not urgent." NO. I do it NOW.

This goes for work, home and training.

You won't be perfect. No one is.

But you can be BETTER.

I know I can.

A big part of improving is accountability.

This blog holds me accountable.

Every day I write here. ESPECIALLY if I don't feel like it. Which happens often.

Simple things we can do every day to grow stronger in mind & body..

Walking. Writing.

Sitting quietly blocking out the noise of the world. Meditation. Stretching.

Physical training. Challenges.
